'My name is August. I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.'
Auggie wants to be an ordinary ten-year-old. He does ordinary things - eating ice cream, playing on his Xbox. He feels ordinary - inside. But ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. Ordinary kids aren't stared at wherever they go.
Born with a terrible facial abnormality, Auggie has been home-schooled by his parents his whole life. Now, for the first time, he's being sent to a real school - and he's dreading it. All he wants is to be accepted - but can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, underneath it all?
My thoughts:
I adored this book! Auggie was so cute and kind, Auggie has started a new school and Mr Tushman which Auggie laughs at his name when said is trying to make other kids see him as being normal and hope that more kids became his friends. Later in the book he meets his two bestfriends Jack and Summer, Jack and him begin to have a little conflict because at one point Jack was really trying to became popular. Summer was so kind and understanding about August's situation and she treated him life a normal kid.
I loved they was R.J.Palacio wrote it going back into many people in Auggie's life point of view. I loved when it was Jack she didn't use capital letters and she used the most basic words because he isn't very smart.
The only thing I didn't like about the book is that he seemed older than ten and so did Summer but I can't say the same for Jack. Also I would love if there was a sequel of a couple years later in his life.
